Make a Dust Bunny!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
This tutorial was created using PSP version 7.
It can be done in 8 or 9, assuming you have a working knowledge of those versions.
The body Pom-Pom was made in version 8, but that's a whole 'nother tute.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
All layers will be Raster layers.
First.
You will need the items contained in THIS zip file.
Here is a screen shot of what's in there.
Download and save the zip file where you can un-zip it and save your work.
Un-zip the zip file.
Let's begin...
~ Step 1 ~
Open a new image. 400x400
Open body.psp
Copy. Close.
Paste onto your new image.
~ Step 2 ~
Colorize that dull gray body pom-pom
Colors... colorize.
Hue picks the color. Saturation picks how light or bold you want that color.
~ Step 3 ~
Make a new Layer.
Name it arms.
Left click on layer 'arms'.
Keep the button pressed.
Now "pull" layer arms under the body layer.
~ Step 4 ~
Open image arm.psp
Copy. Close.
Paste onto layer 'arms'.
Leave arm selected.
Select the Eraser tool.
Erase whatever is sticking up that we don't want of the arm.
~ Step 5 ~
With that arm still selected..
Copy. CTRL C
Paste it back. CTRL E & Left click.
While the second arm is still selected...
Image.. Mirror.
Cut.. CTRL X
Paste. CTRL E
Now move the second arm into position.
Left click.
Deselect. CTRL D
~ Step 6 ~
Make a new layer. Name it Legs.
Open image leg.psp.
Copy. Close.
Paste a leg onto your image.
Follow the same steps as for the arm for the second leg.
~ Step 7 ~
Click on Layer 1
Make a new layer.
Name it Eyes.
Open the eye-blu.psp
Copy. Close.
Paste the eye onto your image.
Paste the other eye beside it.
Not centered like you want?
Deselect.
Cut. CTRL X
Paste. CTRL E
Move the eyes into the position you want.
Add a drop shadow.
~ Step 8 ~
Make a new layer.
Name it Lips.
Open the lips.psp image you want.
You can colorize them to match your Dustbunny at this point if you wish.
Copy. Close.
Save changes? No.
Paste lips onto the lips layer.
~ Step 9 ~
Make a new layer.
Name it Hands.
Open a hand.psp image.
You can also colorize this.
Copy. Close.
Paste the hand into position.
Copy that hand.
Paste... mirror. Cut.. paste.
Move second hand into postion.
~ Step 10 ~
Make a new layer.
Name it shoes
Open a shoe.psp image
Copy. Close
Shoes won't fit directly onto your feet area?
No problem.
Use the lasso selection too and circle one of the shoes.
Cut and paste onto the foot.
Deselect the empty shoe area from the shoes image.
Cut the second shoe.
Paste onto the other foot.
~ Step 11 ~
Save this layered image as a .psp file.
You are saving this, in layers, as a .psp file so you can open it at any time and add or delete layers to add different things.
You can also alter colors of individual items this way.
Duplicate. Shift D
Close the saved one.
Merge Layers... merge visible
You can add a background and do what you want with it now.
Save as a .jpg
Optional
After you merge visible layers, cut. CTRL X
Add your background color.
Add some extra border in the same color
Paste the dust bunny back. CTRL E
If you move your cursor away from the image, before you use CTRL E to paste, it will auto center the image.
I added the extra border so I could add a drop shadow to mine.
Use your imagination and have fun with your Dust Bunny's! 8-)
